ABOUT S-J:
S-J is a uniquely talented Jazz singer and outstanding performer. Audiences adore her true iconic style and grace exuding old skool glamour. Always a glint in her eye and some unrehearsed banter …a rare gem of an artist.
S-J (Sarah-Jane) has been performing since she was eight years old. Originally from Madrid, she came to England and found her true calling in music and acting.
She quickly discovered her love of singing in musicals, in shows, writing her own material. A talented young musician piano and voice Grade 8 at 17 years, she had her sights on London and quickly burst onto the new dance scene as a singer/ dance producer.
Befriending DJs Danny Rampling, Judge Jules, Carl Cox, her great friend the late Tony de Vit, Sonique, Pete Wardman, Darren Stokes, Tall Paul, Commander Tom to name a few, she established herself as a ‘girl on the scene’ with an ambition to create music and sing.
Her defining musical relationship with Baby Doc established her as one of the pioneers of the hard-house scene and together they toured the world as Baby Doc & S-J, a highly successful relationship spanning 10 years.
In her mid-30s, S-J decided it was time to take a break from crazy club land. She started a small jazz group with Sean Hargreaves on keys and assorted bass players. S-J began her new path as a jazz singer, an ambition she had held for a long time, playing many small assorted venues building up her style and confidence emulating Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone with a sprinkling of Frank Sinatra too.
